Who makes Sector Defence

Sector Defence is made by Sam Lindup, a sole trader in the UK trading as Furling Games. Questions about this policy can go to sectordefence@furling.games.

What's stored on your device

The game saves two things in files on your device:

  • your progress: research, unlocked difficulties, any battle in progress and your records
  • your settings: text size, map colours, controls side, sound, haptics, battery saver and which hints you've seen

The game never sends these files anywhere, and I never receive them. Uninstalling the game deletes them from your device.

Device backups

If you have backups turned on, your device's own backup service (iCloud Backup on iPhone and iPad, or Google's Android backup) includes these files, so your progress can come back after a reinstall or on a new device. Apple and Google handle those backups under their own privacy policies. I have no access to them.

Permissions

On Android, the game asks only for permission to vibrate, for haptic feedback. You can turn haptics off in the game's settings. It asks for no other permissions on Android, iPhone or iPad.

Sharing

The Weekly results screen has a Share result button. Tapping it opens your device's share sheet with a short line of text: the week, the sector number and how many waves you held. Nothing is sent unless you choose an app and send it yourself. The game never reads your clipboard.

Internet

Sector Defence doesn't connect to the internet. It has no accounts, advertising, analytics, crash reporting or third-party code that collects data. It's free, with no in-app purchases.

App stores

You download the game from the App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google run those stores under their own privacy policies. If you've agreed to share diagnostics with them, they may show me anonymous, combined statistics such as download counts and crash reports. These never identify you.

If you email me

If you email me, I'll see your email address and whatever you write. I use it only to reply to you and to fix what you report.

Children

The game is suitable for all ages. It collects no information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and California privacy law, you have rights over personal data held about you, including to access, correct or delete it. The game itself holds no personal data, so there's nothing in it for me to access, correct or delete, and you can remove all game data from your device by uninstalling. If you've emailed me and want that deleted, just ask.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Sector Defence starts collecting any data, I'll update this policy before that version is released and change the date at the top.
